Abstract

In this article a few modern Xhosa poems are cursorily examined with a view to highlighting the voice of protest in Xhosa modern poetry. The purpose of the study is to show what the modern Xhosa poet has to say on the sociopolitical system in South Africa and how self-imposed and institutional cencorship have affected his or her commitment as a ‘political commentator’.
