Abstract

Chlorthal, diphenamid, propazine and sulfallate (CDEC) were tested as Pre-emergence sprays for the control of weeds in three slash pine (Pinus elliottii) nurseries located in south-east Queensland. The best weedicide treatment was a combined chlorthal 22,4 kg/ha plus propazine I,I kg/ha mix which provided up to twenty weeks broad spectrum weed control and proved selective to the pine crop. Use of this effective weedicide mix has been safely extended to include the treatment of caribbean (P. caribaea), loblolly (P. taeda) and radiata (P. radiata) pine sowings.
