HIV and aging among adults aged 50 years and older on antiretroviral therapy in Eswatini

Abstract

Background: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has decreased HIV-related morbidity and mortality and increased life expectancy of people living with HIV (PLHIV). Globally, the number of older PLHIV (OPLHIV; ≥50 years) is growing and predicted to increase substantially in coming years. In sub-Saharan Africa, where the majority of OPLHIV reside, there are limited data on the health and well-being of OPLHIV.
