Abstract

Three major utilization strategies: correct stocking rates; application of rotational grazing; and diversification of stock, for effective utilization of the veld in the Karoo areas, are discussed in terms of their importance, associated problems and possible solutions to the problems. The formulation of these utilization strategies are based on research which was carried out in the Karoo areas.
