Abstract

Suppose M is a semifinite von Neumann algebra, τ a faithful semifinite normal trace on M, and [Mtilde] the space of τ-measurable operators. We examine the relationship between the norm-closed ideals in M and the measure-closed ideals in [Mtilde].
