Presence of Trachylepis dichroma Günther, Whiting and Bauer, 2005 (Reptilia: Squamata: Scincidae) in Kenya

Abstract

The presence of Trachylepis dichroma Günther, Whiting & Bauer, 2005 in Kenya is confirmed. This follows re‐examination of the voucher specimens of the widespread Trachylepis brevicollis (Wiegmann, 1837) in the National Museums of Kenya. While our specimens are largely similar to the type series, there are slight differences in the mean number of mid‐body scale rows and the distance between the posterior tip of the frontal scale and the posterior tip of the interparietal scale. The species may be more widespread than currently documented both within and outside Kenya.
