Essayism in Siwisa's short stories

Abstract

Using Siwisa's short stories as exemplification, I investigate the misconception currently existing with regard to the difference between the Xhosa short story and the essay. The main objective is to indicate the relationship between these two subgenres and to explain how the misconception could have come about.
