NISC is proud to announce that the African Humanities Series of books is now co-published with Routledge (Taylor & Francis). This follows the successful co-publishing agreement in the journal space with Taylor & Francis that has run since for the past 15 years.
The establishment of the African Humanities Association in Abuja in 2020 has allowed the Series to expand in scope and authorship beyond the original five participating countries of the African Humanities Program (Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda), to include the entire continent. In addition, the African Humanities Series has broadened its coverage of topics and authorship to capture the work of scholars engaged in African Humanities research globally.
The co-publishing agreement seeks to enhance the scholarly standing of the African Humanities Series and extend the international footprint of its respective titles. As well as improving the reach of the books, the Routledge association with the series will seek to attract established authors and opens doors for publishing of edited collections.
The African Humanities Series covers topics in African histories, languages, literatures, philosophies, politics, and cultures and is intended to speak to scholars in Africa as well as in other world areas. Its core goal is to foreground the best research on the continent.
The co-publishing of this series sees the individual titles being sold through the NISC website to customers in sub-Saharan Africa, with Routledge offering internationally. access to the series in print, pdf and epub formats). The series titles will continue to be available through online book sellers such as Amazon and included in full text African Studies databases.
The most recent seven titles, published since January 2022, will be shared with Routledge. The 17 earlier titles in the series have been distributed to date by the African Books Collective, who have seen that the books are on Amazon, EBSCO databases and JSTOR, giving them excellent international visibility and access. These earlier titles will be added to the Routledge collection in the future.
