1. Response of Cymbopogon validus tillers to three clipping frequencies

Item type: Journal Article • Journal: Journal of the Grassland Society of Southern Africa • Authors: SheonaE. Shackleton --- Department of Botany, Transkei M.T. Mentis --- Department of Botany, Republic of South Africa
The response of tagged Cymbopogon validus tillers to three clipping frequencies indicated that this species is intolerant of severe and frequent defoliation. This could account for its decreased abundance in heavily‐grazed areas in and around Mkambati Game Reserve, Transkei.
2. Habitat factors influencing the distribution of Cymbopogon validus in Mkambati game reserve, Transkei

Habitat factors influencing the distribution of Cymbopogon validus in Mkambati game reserve, Transkei

Item type: Journal Article • Journal: African Journal of Range & Forage Science • Authors: SheonaE. Shackleton --- Department of Botany, Republic of South Africa C.M. Shackleton --- Department of Botany, Republic of South Africa
The factors influencing the distribution of Cymbopogon validus in Mkambati Game Reserve were investigated using multivariate techniques. C. validus was found to be present on nutrient‐rich, clay soils and absent from dystrophic, sandy soils. This could account for the patchy...

4. Perceptions of climate change and barriers to adaptation amongst commonage and commercial livestock farmers in the semi-arid Eastern Cape Karoo

Perceptions of climate change and barriers to adaptation amongst commonage and commercial livestock farmers in the semi-arid Eastern Cape Karoo

Item type: Journal Article • Journal: African Journal of Range & Forage Science • Authors: Claudette Muller --- Department of Environmental Science, South Africa Sheona E Shackleton --- Department of Environmental Science, South Africa
Climate change is expected to adversely affect agriculture in South Africa. A rise in variable and unfavourable conditions is likely to surpass the limits of current coping mechanisms of farmers, compelling them to implement more resilient adaptive measures to decrease...

On two topologies associated with a topology

Item type: Journal Article • Journal: Quaestiones Mathematicae • Authors: Sheo Kumar Singh --- , India ArunK. Srivastava --- Department of Mathematics and Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, India
With every topology T on a set X, two finer topologies on X have been introduced in the past, viz., the so-called front topology and the indiscrete generated refinement of T. It is shown here that these are nicely inter-related...

On Q-sobriety

Item type: Journal Article • Journal: Quaestiones Mathematicae • Authors: Sheo Kumar Singh --- Department of Mathematics, India Arun K. Srivastava --- Department of Mathematics and Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, India
The study of fixed-basis variety-based topology was initiated by S.A. Solovyov (in 2008), which, among other things, generalizes fuzzy topology. We extend within this framework, an earlier result due to Srivastava et al. (in 1998), which showed that the category...
