Abstract

If T: A → B is a homomorphism of Band algebras, we study the relationship between invertible elements in A and B relative to T. To facilitate our investigation, we firstly associate Fredholm, almost Ruston, Ruston, Weyl and Browder elements with T, and secondly we consider another homomorphism S: A → D of Banach algebras which is related to T in a natural way.
