Abstract

A morphism a: A → X in c is exponentiable if it is so as an object of the comma category C/X, that is: if the functor—x a: C/X → C/X, given by pullback, has a right adjoint. It is shown that the class of all exponentiable monomorphisms enjoys several pleasant properties which can be derived from formal properties of pullback complements.
