Abstract

P. pringlei produces an attractive wood of a uniformly pale-brown colour due to its comparatively inconspicuous growth rings. It has a fine texture and has an average density similar to that of P. elliottii but is considerably less variable, especially within annual rings. At the 5 % height level the density increases rapidly from pit to bark but higher up in the tree the wood tends to be more uniform across the radius.
