The copulative verb in Venda

Abstract

The paper examines the categorial status of the copulative in Venda. Most of the studies within the older approaches worked with a relational view of the copulative. It will be necessary to show that such a view needs to be revisited, i.e. working with the copulatives established as identificative, descriptive and associative. Instead of putting emphasis on relations only, the paper also focuses on the elements that constitute the copulative, generally referred to as the copulative verbs.
