Xhosa beyond the textbook: an analysis of grammatical variation of selected Xhosa constructions

Abstract

This article investigates the negative of copular relative and adjective constructions. Variants of these constructions are discussed and issues pertaining to their use examined. It is concluded that this study indicates a significant need for further examination of the language as it is spoken as opposed to the way it has been described in present grammars.
