From Africa to France: two versions of a single African story

Abstract

Content, structure and style are compared in two versions of a single African folk-tale and an attempt is made to correlate their nature and the specific aims known to have presided at their telling. The first is a simple transcription/translation, the second a literary interpretation prepared directly in French by author Bernard Dadié.
