Abstract

A national survey of computer disaster recovery planning by major computer users in South Africa was conducted in 1990. The results are reported in this article and show that most firms are highly dependent on their computer systems. Almost a quarter believe that they could not survive a total loss of computing power for more than a day before suffering serious business impairment.
