Abstract

We use commuting idempotent endomorphisms of a commutative monoid 〈S, ·, e〉 to define a new operation, ⊙, on S to obtain a medial semigroup 〈S, ⊙〉. We investigate the maximality of the semiring 〈End〈S, ⊙〉, ⊙, ◦〉 as a semiring in 〈Map(S), ⊙, ◦〉.
