Abstract

We prove that the characters of an infinite metrizable compact abelian group G form a strictly conditional (SC) system if and only if the system fails the upper majorant property (UMP). Then we show that a homogeneous system is either an unconditional basic sequence or SC. In the last part we investigate the existence of UMP for the Babenko system.
