Abstract

The use of models by the South African water industry is discussed. It is suggested that climatic conditions and existing legislation have influenced the formulation of models. Future model requirements by the water Industry are outlined. Changes are suggested which will allow the water Industry more flexibility in model development so as to participate effectively in catchment water quality planning and management.
