A DESCRIPTION OF THE ASYMMETRIC MUSCLE PAIRS IN THE PELVIC GIRDLE OF MABUYA CAPENSIS (REPTILIA: SCINCIDAE: LYGOSOMINAE)

Abstract

Some pelvic girdle muscle pairs of Mabuya capensis display a marked asymmetry with respect to their size and points of origin. This phenomenon was found to be a constant feature in all the specimens examined (10) and nowhere in the literature cited during the course of this investigation is any mention made of its occurrence.
