Abstract

This study examines prominent themes in Sesotho prose from 1990 to 2002 The aim is to observe literary tendencies, trends and patterns that can be considered to be the major characteristics of the literary period marked by the unbanning of political activity in 1990. The pattern that emerged is that a high percentage of the prose texts published during the 1990s and after, deal with ordinary subject matter and also with cultures in conflict during the sociopolitical transition from apartheid to democracy
