THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN XHOSA VARIETIES

Abstract

This paper suggests certain parameters in terms of which the difference between rural and urban Xhosa varieties could be considered. The conclusion is reached that the difference between the two varieties is not absolute. The suggestion is also made that perhaps the difference is best characterized in terms of a continuum.
