Abstract

Small rivers that can generate useful quantities of electricity are freely and proportionally distributed in Africa. Thousands of potential sites are available in South Africa, capable of generating hundreds of megawatts. Small hydropower generation is not a new approach in this part of the world, as many nearby countries are embarking it.
