Abstract

This paper attempts to explore some aspects of naming in Sesotho and Xhosa. It seeks to examine the thesis that the structure of the lexicon as revealed in the names of persons in Sesotho and Xhosa reflects the corresponding structure of the culture of Basotho and amaXhosa respectively.
