Abstract

The geographical position of the relevant production and protection forest reserves, in the Western Province of Uganda, in relation to the National Parks and Game Reserves, is defined. The game animals, which are particularly damaging to Uganda forests, are noted; the problems arising from such damage, and game-forest requirements, are discussed. Particular attention is drawn to Uganda's estimated future timber needs, and the value of game as a commercial crop. Solutions to the conflicting problems which result from the clash of game and forestry are suggested. The evolution and implemen-tation of a possible combined Forestry/Game Policy is indicated.
