The electronic voting machine: a continuous process of achieving quality

Abstract

The mandatory use of electronic voting machines in the Indian electoral process has brought about a sea change in making the elections free, fair, eco-friendly and cost effective. This paper discusses how through continuous improvement and stringent quality checks the technological features have been aligned with the polling process as directed by the Election Commission of India. The manufacturing processes and the quality checks introduced at each stage have been reinforced by employee passion for perfection and their participation through quality circles.
