Abstract

Glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine] is a non-selective herbicide which is extremely sensitive to antagonism by salts in the spray solution and to environmental conditions at application. Various adjuvants were evaluated with glyphosate in glasshouse and field experiments with the aim of identifying suitable adjuvants. In the glasshouse, EXP94KG1 was the most effective adjuvant in water carriers with low and high calcium chloride content. In the field, EXP94KG1 and Frigate were both more effective than Armoblen 650, Bladbuff 5 and Beef-up AS. Frigate performance was similar to that of EXP94KG1 in the field probably as a result of the lower carrier volume used in the field.
