NISC wishes to congratulate Prof Peter Ryan, a regular contributor to our journals, on his receipt of the SANCOR Gilchrist Medal.
Prof Ryan is one of the most prolific marine scientists in Southern Africa and as an a rated NRF researcher he has authored or co-authored more than 320 peer-reviewed papers (127 as first author).
Prof Ryan is currently the Director of the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology. Prof Ryan primarily works on seabirds and their conservation, has a wide-ranging interest in avian biology, and maintains an interest in plastic pollution, especially in marine systems.
Prof Ryan has published articles in African Journal of Marine Science, Ostrich: Journal of African Ornithology and African Zoology. A selection of his articles published in these NISC journals can be accessed at no cost until the end of September 2017 here:
