New Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Child & Adolescent Mental Health

With the aim of contributing towards the development of a robust and inclusive knowledge base for child and adolescent mental health across diverse contexts, the Journal of Child & Adolescent Mental Health is proud to announce Dr. John Goodwin as Editor-in-Chief of the journal. 

Dr. Goodwin, Mental Health Nursing Undergraduate Programme Lead at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Cork, Ireland, has a background in acute mental health care. He has published over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journal and attracted over €820,000 in funding.

‘My main research interests are young people’s mental health, media and mental health, mental health help-seeking, mental health stigma, the use of the arts and creativity in mental health, and suicide and self-harm’, said Dr. Goodwin in an interview with NISC. 

Papers from all disciplines addressing child and adolescent mental health are welcomed in the journal, including specific focus areas such as psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, phenomenology, epidemiology, mental health prevention and promotion, community-based interventions, dissemination research and policy.

‘In the last number of years, we have experienced extraordinary societal challenges, many of which directly impact the mental health of young people. Never has it been more important to focus on the mental health of this population. As Editor-in-Chief, I look forward to receiving manuscripts reflecting a wide range of disciplinary, geographical, and methodological perspectives on child and adolescent mental health,’ he said.

The Journal publishes original research (including brief reports and case series, but not single case reports), review articles, clinical reports within an evidence-based framework  in a ‘Clinical Perspectives’ section, book reviews, and letters to the editor.
