Call for papers: Special issue on African-European birds

Ostrich: Journal of African Ornithology will be publishing a special issue on the shared avifauna of Africa and abroad.

The palearctic region and Africa have strong ornithological ties, and understanding ornithology in Africa is fundamental to species conservation of many species that occur in Europe and Asia.

The initiative will be led by Ostrich Advisor Dr Dayo Osinubi (FitzPatrick Institute). The special-issue invites research papers on the theme of birds within Africa and beyond. A wide variety of topics related to the theme will be considered e.g. communities, conservation, migration, threats and opportunities.

The deadline for submission is 15 June 2022. Articles are published online on acceptance, with the printed issue scheduled for October 2022.

Ostrich is the scientific journal of Birdlife South Africa published in conjunction with NISC and Taylor and Francis. Ostrich is Africa’s leading ornithological journal, with 90 years of publishing experience, with 2020 impact factor 1.36.

Submitted articles will undergo double-blind peer-review. For more information about the title, submission details and author instructions please refer to the website here.

Submit your article via the new Taylor and Francis submission portal.

The paper was wonderfully laid out and rapidly published
- Author- Ostrich: Journal of African Ornithology
Perhaps the most important change, in terms of bringing the Journal to a wider audience, has been its publishing in collaboration with the NISC (Pty) Ltd.
- Stan Pillar, Editor of the African Journal of Marine Science (1996-2013)
A very supportive, personal and committed editorial team, which takes quality of the work very seriously. I learned a lot through the experience of publishing with Anthropology Southern Africa, and felt supported throughout the process.

The review process is quick and is being done within the reasonable time. After acceptance, NISC is also quick enough to send proofs and is very efficiently publishes the accepted paper online before its print version.

- Author - Southern Forests: A Journal of Forest Science
Thank you for the rare experience of a set of proofs on which I can find nothing to correct!
